Hemifacial microsomia

Hemifacial microsomia /Parry-Romberg syndrome is characterized by slowly progressive deterioration (atrophy) of the skin and soft tissues of half of the face (hemifacial atrophy) resulting in contour deformity or depression of one side of face. It has the greatest impact on the ears, mouth and jaw.

Fat grafting/transfer is best treatment option, in which fat taken from other part of your body (thigh/or abdomen) transferred to affected area. Other option is Reconstructive or microvascular surgery may be needed to repair wasted tissue.

The timing of surgical intervention is generally agreed to be the best following exhaustion of the disease course and completion of facial growth.
